Swarm Theory and Transformative Processes in Design

The studio is investigating swarms through a variety of species, their behavioral patterns, movement and part to whole. By pin pointing the basic underlying patterns of a particular species a formulaic equation can be established. This equation of bottom up intelligence will be investigated in terms of its potential application to design. The studio will focus on applications relating to performative skins, structural components and movement at the architectural scale.
